Omarosa Manigault and her role in the Trump administration has morphed the former reality television star into a politically polarizing figure. The National Association of Black Journalists invited Manigault to a panel at this year’s conference in New Orleans, which caused panelists to bow out gracefully.

Page Six writes:

“The majority there don’t want her involved. It’s heavy drama — even the moderator is refusing. Everyone sees it as extremely offensive,” a source told us.

New York Times journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones was scheduled to moderate a panel on police brutality on Friday, which featured Valerie Castile, Sandra Sterling, and the New Yorker’s Jelani Cobb. Hannah-Jones and Cobb pulled out of the panel, and Bounce TV’s Ed Gordon stepped in to serve as the event’s moderator.

The publication followed up with Cobb, who said that he also decided to back out as it wasn’t clear what Manigault would provide to the discussion considering she serves as an aide to President Donald Trump, who hasn’t exhibited much support on the issue in some eyes.
